Conjectures?

Hello! I figured maybe this comm could use a new post. :)

I remember watching Samurai Jack back when it first aired and I was a fan from the beginning. It was the first fandom I really got involved in. I'm happy to see a community here for it. I think there used to be one on LJ back in the day and I was part of that, too.

Though only four episodes of Season 5 have aired so far, what does everyone think of the new season? Any guesses on what will happen in later episodes?

Maybe this is already obvious, but I think Ashi will be a major player in getting Jack back to the past and/or Aku's defeat. Also, I realized how similar she and Jack are. Both were trained in combat from a young age and instilled with a sense of duty and zeal to eliminate what they perceive as the enemy. I'm curious to see how their relationship develops, and I hope we find out more about the mother of Aku's daughters.

(Late reply is late but here goes!) I'm kind of in disbelief that we've only got 4 episodes left before the end of the season. It feels like there are still so many things that need wrapping up and I dunno how they plan on addressing everything without it feeling rushed.

Someone mentioned it before (on Tumblr?) how interesting it is that Ashi's basically the "dark" version of Jack. I wasn't really surprised that she switched sides, but I will admit that I was surprised at how easy it was—I expected it to take at least 2 episodes.

It did seem too easy. But I'm sure if Genndy had been allowed more episodes, he would've taken the opportunity to extend her character development, and the development of her relationship with Jack. Toward the end of the last episode she made it sound like Jack had had a big influence on her development when it felt like she had met him, like, yesterday?

Like, I'm glad she's switched sides and I'm glad Jack now has a kid but the emotional pay-off would've been better if they'd given her more screentime to explore the realization that Jack's telling the truth.
